Incident Response

The type of response and whether decontamination or isolation is necessary is dependent on the type of agent or organism and in some situations the proximity to the weapon or agent. Emergency Departments and hospitals deal frequently with concerns for potentially contagious illnesses or conditions, however, agents of bioterrorism can require additional knowledge and equipment beyond daily patient care activities. The CDC and USAMRIID and USAMRICD have web sites which address many of these concerns as well as resources for healthcare provider education.
