The Division of Prehospital and Disaster Medicine consists of 7 board certified EMS physicians who serve within the Department of Emergency Medicine and provide medical oversight to rural, suburban, and urban locations. This includes support to over 13 entities and prehospital educational programs located in the Upstate of South Carolina. Additionally, the Division supports multiple events in the upstate including collegiate football, bicycle races, and road races.

Our Department of Emergency Medicine provides acute episodic care to more than 350,000 patients annually across seven emergency departments. The Prisma Health Department of Emergency Medicine boasts more board-certified Emergency physicians than any other Department in the state, more subspecialty fellowship trained Emergency Physicians than any other Department in the state, and the Upstate’s only Emergency Medicine residency program (PGY 1-3, accepting 10 residents per year), which is the 3rd largest residency program in the institution.
