PEC Special Issue Call for Papers: Prehospital Blood

Prehospital Emergency Care seeks articles describing projects that focus on prehospital blood transfusion.

Special Issue Information:
Prehospital care of patients experiencing or at risk for hemorrhagic shock is critical in limiting ‎preventable deaths and improving outcomes. While the last decade has seen a significant ‎increase in the use of blood products in the prehospital setting, gaps remain in the ‎understanding of optimal resource utilization, barriers to adoption, and patient-centered ‎outcomes. This special issue of Prehospital Emergency Care aims to explore innovative ‎approaches, best practices, and evidence-based strategies for the prehospital administration of ‎blood products.‎

DEA Releases Rule: Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2017 (PPAEMA)

On Thursday February 5, 2026, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) officially published its long-awaited final rule implementing the Protecting Patient Access to Emergency Medications Act of 2017 (PPAEMA). This rule codifies the statutory framework enacted in 2017 and provides critical regulatory clarity for Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies nationwide, and the rule will go into effect 30 days after its official publication.
