UPMC North Central in Williamsport, Pennsylvania has a leadership opportunity for a BE/BC Emergency Medicine physician and BE/BC in EMS. This full-time (0.5 FTE Directorship duties/0.5 FTE hands-on EM practice) employed position has tremendous administrative support and great advancement potential in a rapidly expanding health system.
With 18,000 calls annually, our hospital-based EMS supports 911, routine, and critical care ground transport services with a nationally registered staff. This team also provides medical operation support for the Little League Baseball® World Series. Williamsport is the preceptor site for paramedic and EMT students.
Duties of EMS Medical Director include:
- Assist with day-to-day EMS oversight for Susquehanna Regional EMS;
- Meet the responsibilities and requirements of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania EMS agency medical director, EMS command physician, and Prehospital EMS Physician (PHP) as delineated in PA code Chapter 1023 §1023.1, §1023.2, 1023.30; and §1023.31(h);
- Provide continuing education sessions for EMS professionals within the system;
- Mentor EMS providers in their personal growth as clinicians;
- Work collaboratively with other stakeholders in the development of a robust Mobile Integrated Health (MIH) program;
- Develop strategic initiatives and plans with other members of the management team;
- Provide assistance with disaster management and event planning as needed;
- Provide field response services as needed; and,
- Provide guidance as needed during 9-1-1 responses, interfacility transports, and MIH visits.
