Committee on Prehospital Advanced Practice Providers

The Committee on Prehospital Advanced Practice Providers reflects the growing number of physician assistants and nurse practitioners practicing pre-hospital medicine, many of whom function in a medical control capacity working side-by-side with EMS Physicians.

Originally established in 2020 as the PA/NP Task Force, the committee will be assigned with developing a proposal to the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for creation of an EMS Certification Track. They will also be tasked with creating guidelines for EMS medical directors on effective collaboration with a mid-level provider in EMS medicine. More information will be added as it becomes available.
