The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine is seeking highly motivated, forward-thinking faculty to join our Section of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Situated within a nationally leading Department of Emergency Medicine, this position is at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, with rank and track commensurate with qualifications and experience.

About Yale’s Section of EMS
The EMS Section is a dynamic, high-volume, and clinically diverse system made up of EMS physicians providing medical oversight across the Yale New Haven Health System.
Our robust clinical and operational footprint includes:
- Massive System Impact: Overseeing 215,040 total annual encounters, including 146,116 9-1-1 encounters.
- Extensive Agency Oversight: Providing medical direction for 27 agencies supported by 14 PSAPs. This network includes career and volunteer fire departments, commercial ambulances, police and security first responders, and collegiate EMS.
- Large Clinical Workforce: Guiding and credentialing 1,818 total clinicians, including 511 paramedics and over 1,200 EMTs.
- Special Operations: Overseeing Yale New Haven Health System critical care transport, tactical EMS deployments attached to federal and local SWAT teams, mass casualty incident (MCI) response via our physician-staffed SHARP team, and disaster preparedness through the Office of Emergency Preparedness.
- Educational Leadership: Directing an ACGME-accredited EMS fellowship as well as 5 paramedic programs, 7 EMT programs, and AHA courses reaching over 7,000 learners annually.

About Yale Emergency Medicine
Yale Emergency Medicine staffs the three campuses of Yale New Haven Hospital with an annual patient volume exceeding 180,000 visits. Our primary academic campus is a Level 1 Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center. The department is home to a four-year EM residency of nearly 80 residents, a PA advanced training program, and a health system simulation program.
Yale’s Department of Emergency Medicine is proud to be ranked first by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research for NIH funding in emergency medicine since 2021.

Required Qualifications:
Board certification/eligibility in EMS and Emergency Medicine. Experience with EMS medical direction and oversight.
Preferred: Experience with EMS operations, mentorship, education, research, community paramedicine, critical care transport, and/or mobile integrated health.
