The National Association of EMS Physicians® (NAEMSP®) and Stryker, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, are thrilled to announce Seth Kelly, MD, as the recipient of the NAEMSP/Stryker EMS Medicine Medical Director Fellowship. Dr. Kelly is currently finishing his residency training at the University of Maryland Emergency Medicine Residency Program. In 2020, he will complete his EMS Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Emergency Medicine.
The 12-month, $80,000 fellowship covers training and education costs to pursue a career as a clinically focused EMS medical director who is board-certified in EMS medicine. The opportunity was created to expand the commitment of academic institutions to EMS medicine as a subspecialty and graduate a fellow with a passion for EMS leadership on a national level.
“I am honored and incredibly grateful to have been chosen as the recipient of the 2020 NAEMSP-Stryker Fellowship,” said Dr. Kelly. “The fellowship will provide valuable support as I seek out opportunities to collaborate with prehospital clinicians at all levels and explore my interests in prehospital research, operations, and education over the next year as an EMS fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. It will allow me to learn from experienced EMS physicians to become an effective EMS physician myself and also do my part to help advance the specialty going forward.”
NAEMSP President David K. Tan, MD, EMT-T, FAAEM, FAEMS, commented, “The decision to award Dr. Kelly with this fellowship was unanimous—we’re all looking forward to the rest of his career in EMS medicine.”
“Dr. Kelly embodies the passion and commitment that will lead to continued advances in EMS care. He brings a unique breadth of experience to this opportunity, and we look forward to following his career,” said Anne Mullally, Vice President and General Manager for Stryker’s Emergency Care business. “We are pleased to support the opportunity for Dr. Kelly, as education is a key element of how we partner with our customers to improve healthcare and help patient outcomes.”
The fellowship will be presented at the 2020 NAEMSP Annual Meeting January 6-11, 2020, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California.
