Prehospital Research Grant Recipient Announced

October 15, 2020

The National Association of EMS Physicians (NAEMSP) and the Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) are excited to announce Dr. Rebecca Cash as the recipient of a grant for prehospital research. The grant comes from a partnership between the two organizations that began last year and will continue to fund important research in the prehospital sector for the second year in a row.

Dr. Cash works as an Epidemiologist/Biostatistician at Massachusetts General Hospital and is a member of NAEMSP. Her research will focus on prehospital obstetric emergencies in the United States, such as unplanned out-of-hospital births. Both NAEMSP and EMF are confident her research will provide valuable insight into this understudied area of EMS.

“NAEMSP is proud to recognize Dr. Cash’s work, which will support our mission of continuing to develop and improve the field of EMS,” commented NAEMSP President David K. Tan, MD, EMT-T, FAAEM, FAEMS. “We are excited by the tremendous work being done by our members, and we are eager to see the results of her research. Projects such as these leave us optimistic that our partnership with EMF is yielding positive results and will continue to do so in the future.”

EMF Chair David E. Wilcox, MD, FACEP, agreed, saying, “EMF funded research has been defining the practice of Emergency Medicine for almost 50 years, and continues to refine our Emergency Medicine practice today, benefitting our Emergency patients with improved outcomes. We are enthusiastic to have another opportunity to collaborate further in our mutually beneficial partnership with our pre-hospital NAEMSP Emergency Medicine colleagues.”
