New Speaker Series

We are once again hosting an annual meeting session dedicated to new and emerging voices in the EMS community! NAEMSP is now accepting applications for the New Speaker Series at the 2027 Annual Meeting in Austin, Texas.

All selected speakers will receive a travel scholarship to help with funding.

Application period June 1 – July 12, 2026

Eligibility Requirements

NAEMSP members who have never presented at a national meeting before are invited to submit their topic ideas for the chance to be part of the 2027 New Speaker Series.

Selected new speakers will give a 10โ€“15-minute talk on the topic of their choice.

Application Requirements

  • Presentation Title
  • An up-to-150 word summary of the presentation topic and significance.
  • Three learning objectives.
  • Three take-home points.
  • A current CV.
  • Speaker Bio – Three sentence maximum.
  • A 60-second video of the applicant โ€œpitchingโ€ the idea for their talk.

2026 New Speaker Series Winners

Each year, the new speakers who receive the highest score from our panel of judges are invited to present at the following year’s Annual Meeting. The 2026 New Speaker Series winners were:

  • Paul Kirby, MD – presentation entitled ‘To Have Capacity or Not to Have Capacity: That Is the Question

  • Wylie Chang, BA, NREMT – presentation entitled ‘Practicing Solidarity: Lessons from EMS and Community Organizing on the Power of Showing Up
